Structured Learning Programs

Early Reading and Spelling - build foundational literacy and confidence

Suitable for students aged 6 and above.

These lessons are ideal for children who find reading and spelling difficult, particularly those with dyslexia.

I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, the Science of Reading and have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Learning Difficulties) from the University of Melbourne. I draw on this knowledge to deliver highly structured, evidence based instruction. I use the UFLI (University of Florida Institute) systematic phonics program, which is highly effective for children who find reading and spelling difficult.

Maths Sessions- strengthen number sense and reduce maths anxiety

Using evidence-based practices and hands-on materials I teach students at their point of need as determined by diagnostic assessments. For students who require support with early years foundational maths, I use the research-based Extending Mathematical Understanding approach.

Older students benefit from explicit instruction in specific areas of need such as times tables, fractions and problem solving.

Writing Sessions

I use the research-based method - The Writing Revolution - to teach students to become confident writers, starting at the sentence level. Explicit instruction, positive reinforcement and plenty of practice in a relaxed and caring environment help students develop their writing skills, particularly students with dysgraphia.

Morphology lessons

Suitable for students who have a sound understanding of basic phonics but need further support with their reading and spelling.

I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Morphology approach and use this to explicitly teach morphology to support vocabulary knowledge which enhances student's reading comprehension and spelling ability.
